I was a bouncer/cooler/doorman for many years. My martial art at the time was pure JKA shotokan. It was perfect for the job. This in no contradiction either. The stand-up grappling of shotokan was excellent at removing the risk without endangering myself or others. Many mistakenly believe karate is only a striking art. This is not the case. I even got a funny nickname because of my shotokan grappling. They called me "Tentacles", because I have long arms and could "wrap-up" guys trying to punch me like a tidy package, and gently remove them. During a 5-year stint in one bar I hit 2 persons, and one of them I hit hard. Because there was no need to strike. The art you use is not as important as how you use it, and what parts of it you use. Shotokan has many techniques that break people bad. Yet I only ever "broke" one guy who left me no choice. (had I been better at my art I may have had more choices) The main thing you will need is a cool and clear mind when confronted by drunks. It all comes down to intent, and the bouncer's intent is to keep the peace, and not to be seen fighting. Mostly you are a babysitter, but sometimes a 250 pound baby had a tantrum, and you should be able to handle that reasonably without doing him harm. Pick an art you like, and learn the aspects of it that will help you at work. Other than that, use your head, stay calm, and take out the trash. Gently as possible, of course.

When i went to see the disney movie princess and the frog i was surprised to see that unlike i had originally thought the majority of the theater was white. I thought that was very intriguing. With the main character being black and the prince not being white. The second time i went with my family and again the the theater majority were white. The children loved the movie regrardless of the race and one girl said "it was the most amazing movie i have ever seen" to her parents. What shocked me even more was the fact that the movie didnt do well at the box office. How can I rekindle my wife's feelings for me?

I work a lot out of town at a job that supports us well but I hate and own a business in town that is struggling financially but recovering slowly. When I arrive home she has been managing the household and our 3 great kids as well as working. I can't afford to quit my job as she is already stressed about money and the bills we have created. We have been married 18 years and I am still desperately in love with my wife and crave to spend time with her when I arrive home. However a peck is usually the most I get after weeks away so I tend to feel awkward about how to approach such a lukewarm reception. Pimples / Acne?

I have some pimples on my face and i think it keeps spreading from one to more and more.. now it covers half of my face. i don't know what happen but i eat apples everyday, avoid poultry, eat many vegetables, wash it with skin care product (cleanser, toner, sun block, currently i stop my moisturiser to avoid over-moist on my face), do mask, keep my room clean and sleep on time. but they still pop up on my face. i've try to go to dermatologist to take out the pimples, but after a week, it comes out again. and when i stop to go there, it keeps spreading on my face. i also drink aloe vera + honey juice to clean my toxic in my body. and i use oxy on my pimples, it only dry my skin with the pimples still at red condition. any solution?

Why do schools here in Canada give courses that are not college or university level to immigrants? Many of my friends came from different countries and they are welcomed with ESL (English as Second Level) courses. I was the only lucky one who was given courses that are needed for university. First they said that we will put you into ESL cles and then I told them that I will work hard, which they took notice of what I said after some time. Finally, when they gave me all smart cles, I was able to get above 80% in all those cles during the first semester. Do you think that the school districts here don't want children to learn better and pursue their education through college or university? Some of my friends are above 18 and they are still stuck in courses that are not even of their level. Some of my friends are well motivated and are smarter than most of the kids who are in academic cles, but eventually they are not given the chance to compete in those cles with other students. By saying all that, do you think that there is room for improvement in the education system here?

Suboxone / Oxy: Doc advised to chew & swallow 1/2 a 30mg pill & sniff the rest. 1-2 pills/day. Is he NUTS?

I've been on Suboxone for 2 years for chronic pain (I'd requested a non-narcotic versus something that I'd become addicted to.) I stoped taking them because the ER doc prescribed a narcotic for a short time. I learned (by asking here) that I'd feel the effects of the opiate after 72 hrs. I'm supposed to take 1-2 30mg Oxy pills per day. I beieve that my ER doc is a nutcase because when I told him at 4 days on the meds that I didn't feel any better, he told me to chew & swallow 1/2 the 30mg pill & snort the rest. WHAT KIND OF A DOCTOR WOULD ADVISE YOU TO DO THAT!? Anyway...is this safe to do? I tried it & all I feel is itchy, clammy & annoyed due to pain. He'd given me Xanax so maye I will take one to sleep... I have never had any meds this strong before and I'm not looking to accidentally die because some ER doc doesn't know his job. Help??

heres the deal. I have a dell with a pent. 2 processor. I had windows ME. A "friend" gave me a copy of windows XP, a burned copy. afterwards my cpu was full of viruses . soon after i got that under control with AVG. I upgraded in to I. Explorer 7. Now heres the issue. afterwards its telling me that I recieved a counterfeit copy of windows. I think im gettin locked outta my cpu in 30 days. thats all microsoft sponsors apparently. Who is Ready For Annie on AMC to lose her Crazy Status?

I don't think Annie has been crazy for awhile - crazy like a fox maybe. I think she has been slowly working her way back to sanity but not letting people really see it for certain because she's scheming. I definitely don't want her leaving the show. If Ryan's brother can have a tumor and then be absolved of all charges, I don't know why Annie can't recover from her mental illness and the same thing happen. One thing I would like to see is her get Emma back. Ryan refers to Emma as "my daughter", never acknowledging that he didn't even know she existed until a couple of years ago, and that Annie has always been her primary care giver. If they're going to keep Annie completely crazy, then they should let her kill Ryan. Wouldn't bother me one bit.

The other symptoms are: the windows, windshield wipers and such sometimes just do not work. The battery gets drained and has to be recharged. There is a clicking noise at times coming from the dash. I just had it looked at by a mechanic and he ran diagnostics on it and determined that it was the GEM control module. He said it was overcharging. We ordered the part and the mechanic put it in and for two days it ran great. But come Monday morning it wouldn't crank again. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? All help and advice greatly appreciated :)

How do you tell if your puppy has a serious case of Chondrodysplasia?

My aunt gave me her beagle because they didn't want her. She was given to them by a man who breeds them,she was the runt and he said she has Chondrodysplasia. It is also known as Chondrodystrophy from what I read from a website about it. I haven't taken her to the vet yet but she is about 5 months and I'm taking her early December for shots and such. But I still wanted to know if I could tell if she has a serious case of it. I read on the website if its too bad I would have to have her put to sleep. But,I don't think it is. Because she is a very playful happy puppy. She walks just fine as well as runs and rough houses with my duchunds. But,she does have a bad over bite and her front legs are a little apart but that is the only thing that she has that beagles with Chondrodysplasia are seen with and none of that slows her down. She eats fine,healthy stool and her teeth are pretty healthy. Her spine,from what I can see isn't crooked either. I was wondering if anyone has experience with it though and could give me some advice. Oh,Also. Her legs are very long already. And dwarfism is suppose to make them small,I thought? My friend is breaking up with his gf?

My friend (the actual owner of this account, who will probably kill me for asking a question rather than signing him out) is considering breaking up with his girlfriend. When I turn it on it goes to the start screen and stays there not finish booting up or anything. There are 4 options that I can choose from by pressing keyboard ons. F10=Setup, F11=System Recovery, Esc=Boot Menu, F9=Diagnostics. When I press F11 and F9 they do nothing. And when I press the others they say starting setup or boot menu and still do nothing. There are lots of good excursions but not many things are cheap in Bermuda. The best bargain would be to buy at least a 3 day bus p. That will allow you unlimited rides on the buses and the ferry. It is very easy to get around Bermuda as there are only 3 main roads, North Shore Rd., South Shore Rd. (where the best beaches are and they are free) and Middle Rd. Maps are readily available and they show the bus routes and attractions along the way. Take the ferry from Hamilton to Kings Wharf, it's a beautiful trip. You can go to Spittle Pond, beaches and to the top of several lighthouses for free. The caves, Devil's Hole and the Maritime Museum are worth a visit.

I am a bit confused. Revenue is the entire income generated from sales, etc. Expenses (suppliers, employees, taxes, etc.) are paid from the revenue. What ever is left (net income) goes to shareholders. But what does the company use the shareholders equity for (be specific)? Because when they take their revenue and subtract expenses, they are including paying their suppliers with their income, and i thought that they used the shareholders equity (your money) to pay the suppliers? 95 Pontiac Sunfire Electrical Problems?

I have a 95 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2, I was driving and my battery light came on so I went to autozone and they told me it was the alternator. I bought one and on the ride home my battery ran out of juice. I had my father bring me a battery just to make it home. I started up the car and my dash lights went nuts. Airbag, seat belt, ABS, Brake, and also a flashing headlight. I got it home thinking it was just because of the alternator but after I changed it the lights were still on. I noticed that when I turned on anything that would pull juice(A/C, Radio, headlights, wipers, etc.) all the lights would dim in the car, A/c would die down, radio cut out. Everything looses power. I took it back to auto-zone and said it was a bad alternator so I exchanged and same problem with this one. They tested it and it appeared to be good. I took it to my mechanic and he thought it was a switch for the lights but it wasn't. Can you help me out?

My 10 month old son prefers pureed. Is this a problem?

My 10 month old son prefers pureed baby food. We have tried him on different textures, but he won't eat much of the other texture. If we don't offer him anything but a mashed or lumpy texture, he is up during the night hungry. We don't want to have texture issues when he is older. We are confused at what to do. Our doctor says that he will eat the texture food if he is hungry and to limit the formula....sure he does eat it but not enough of it and then he is up several times during the night. What could I make out of leftover Jojo Potatoes?

I would make a hot breakfast dish. I would cut up a couple pieces of bacon into a pan (I use kitchen scissors) and cook up the bacon until it's almost done. Chop up the rest of your jojos and toss them in the pan with the bacon. Chop up some onion, or peppers, or whatever you have in the fridge and toss that in too. Sometimes if I don't have veggies, I just pour a little salsa in it. Mix it all up and let the potatoes brown, and the veggies get a bit soft, then you're done! You can scramble or fry an egg to go with it.

Taking birth control and now having VERY bad cramps and very upset stomach?

This has been a bit of a nightmare. I started taking YAZ on September 29th until now so almost a month it will be. The second week of taking it i would get these squeezing cramps. They were very annoying and would just come and go. So i figured ok this is normal i guess. Then the following days i suddenly got upset stomach like not to be nasty but very foul smelling gas and bowel movements. And i just umed maybe it was something i ate. Well ever since last sunday (maybe even before that because i was spotting quite a bit) i started bleeding full on. As time went on it got heavier and heavier to where now i am going through tampons ridiculously and i even had to where both those and pads. Now i have developed these HORRENDOUS cramps. To the point where they're crippling at times and now i have to take ibuprofen 600 mgs every 6 hours (sometimes 5 because the pain comes back sooner at times) or else it is unbearable. And low and behold my upset stomach has not gone away. It seems to me that the horrible cramps tend to subside A LITTLE when i go to the bathroom but i barely go much when i go and it seems like i am constipated. I'm trying to make a appointment with planned parenthood to possibly get off of this pill. For some reason it seems to me that this pill is the blame for my stomach spazzing completely out. What does everyone else think? Should i stop taking YAZ? I been prescribed by my mom's doctor with these pills because my period became very irregular.

Question about criminal background question on applications....?

I have been looking for a job for quite some time now with no luck. I know the economy is bad, but I am pretty sure that my criminal background is keeping me from getting a job. I was convicted of a felony (forgery-less than $20!!) when I was 18 years old (8 years ago!) and haven't been in any trouble since then. I have two degrees, good references, etc. I was laid off about a year ago and have been unable to find a job since then. The majority of employers want you to apply online nowadays and there is so much competition. Of course employers are more likely to choose someone who is able to check no to the question regarding criminal background when they only have applications to go on and no face to face contact (i.e. first impressions). I am in the process of getting this expunged, but that can take up to a year! Anyways...I got off on a tangent. My question is what is the best response to the question 'Have you ever been convicted of a crime? If so, please explain.' I would never lie about it because they would more than likely discover it when they run a background check. I have been saying: "I was convicted of a crime when I was 18 years old. I have not had any legal trouble since then. I am currently in the process of getting it expunged from my record. I will gladly explain this in detail if offered an interview." Should I explain that it was forgery or omit this? I would greatly appreciate any advice that anyone has to offer! Thanks in advance!

Brick bbq grill problems with heat?

I'm a little discouraged. I just made a large bbq grill outside for charcoal. It has cinder block lining with red brick along the outside. I left an open area for storage underneath and bridged it with a 3/16 piece of metal (3' x 2'). I raised the bottom holder for the charcoal about 2" above the metal and just tried using it today. To my dismay the heat from the charcoal made the whole piece of metal warp and caused several cracks through some of my bricks. Is there something I can do to make the metal plate not warp or some sort of fix?

First thing you'll need to find out is,what you are loosing.You say it will not restart for at least an hour,so you need to take the time to do some basic checks.Take tools with you or whatever it takes to do some diagnostics.Even a mini screwdriver will help.You can use it to check for spark,check for fuel pressure,etc. Two things come to mind. Some systems leave the fuel pump relay energized to keep the pump running,the relay may be overheating. Most run through the oil pressure switch. The switch could be getting weak or oil pressure too low and the fuel pump is shutting down. Good Luck!

73 Challenger dies out,any suggestions?

ok heres the story. 73 Dodge Challenger in resto,318 with a mild cam,this winter I replaced the gas tank,installed new cam,timing chain and lifters. It starts and runs fine. When I go about a mile down the road it just quits. It did this 2 times today and I had to get it jumped then it ran fine for a bit and quit again. Last week I installed a new radio and left the ignition on for about 2 hours. Did I maybe cook the coil or ballast resistor? Is the coil breaking down when hot or could it be the fuel system. It has a new Edelbrock 650 on it and a new matching aluminum intake also. Thanks for any ideas. Im gonna check the ignition system tomorrow.

Does this rewrite seem better?

I like the beginning better than the first time. It really captures the realization of the character of what he did. But there still is a few things to work on. Instead of "their eyes stared blankly into the black nothingness," try "for the first time in my life, their eyes did not recognize my pain." I think that this will fix the wordiness but still evoke the same emotions. I also think that the memory distracts from the scene. Instead either try to sum it up in a couple of sentences, like "and recalled the pleasant memories, like the time they bought me a mountain bike they couldn't afford." You can bring it back to the present the way you did a bit smoother if you said something like, "Their eyes lit up when they saw the joy on my face. I then realized their eyes would never light up again, because of me. Personally, I would get rid of the memory, but if you're attached to the idea, I hope my advice helped:). One other suggestion. If the memory is critical to the story, you might be able to put it in someplace else. I really hope this helped!
