Organizing my writing ?

ok. i have a million and 1 ideas running in my head. for yrs people have been badgering me to write a book, so ive finally decided to go for it. i know i have the creative mind to write a good book, but im hopelessly unorganized. i cant even organize my junk drawer. does anyone have any tips for keep plots, characters, places, research, etc. oraganized? i have a ton of notebooks, but i always make a mess of the notes. please help lol
