How do you control Empathic Mimicry?

Hi. My name is Chris and I have the power of empathic mimicry. If you don't already know, empathic mimicry is the ability to to copy the (psychic) abilities of others within your proximity and reproduce them for your own use through their emotions, hence the name "empathic" mimicry. However, I do not know how to control this ability at all. I have done it once before but I didn't know how I did it. If you do know how to control it, could you please explain to me how to control it because I really need to control it for the future. Thanks.
