Can you increase the size of a septic system?

We are about to have an old septic system tested to see if we can use it for a mobile home we are purchasing. I am not sure but I think the size is 1000 gallon. I would like a 3 bedroom home however know that Ohio required 1500 gallon tanks for 3 bedrooms. Is there anything we can do to be able to use the current system?
